Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

Is the verification really free?

Yes. The loan verification and initial consultation cost nothing. You don't pay anything unless we move forward together and you agree to the terms in advance.

Will this hurt my credit?

No. The verification process doesn't involve a credit pull. There's no credit impact from asking us to review your loans.

Are you a law firm?

No. Second Chance Advocate is not a law firm. We are a document preparation and loan verification service. Our specialists are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice. What we do is verify loans, prepare the documents needed to dispute invalid loans, and advocate for clients through the process. If your situation requires a lawyer, we'll tell you.

Do I qualify?

You may qualify if you're paying over $200 per month in payday loan payments, or if you have online loans under $2,500 or storefront loans under $1,000. But the only way to know for sure is to request a free verification. Many people who thought they didn't qualify ended up being perfect candidates.

What if I'm being harassed by collectors?

Let us know immediately when you submit your request. Collector harassment can violate federal law (the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), and that may give you additional options. We can help you document it and prepare the documents needed to make it stop.

What if I've already been sued?

Contact us right away. Timing matters a lot when a lawsuit has been filed. The sooner we can look at your situation, the more options you'll have.

What if I can't find my loan documents?

That's fine — most people can't. We can often obtain the documentation directly from the lender as part of the evaluation step. Missing paperwork does not disqualify you.

What if my loan is from a tribal lender?

Tribal lenders often claim they're not subject to state law. Sometimes that claim holds up. Often it doesn't. Tribal loans are a major part of what we see, and they're frequently worth challenging.

How long does the whole process take?

Verification takes a few days. Evaluation takes 2–5 business days after that. Dispute timelines vary by case — some resolve in weeks, others take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline once we've seen your situation.

What does it cost if I move forward?

Costs vary based on how many loans you have and what's involved in disputing them. You'll always know the price upfront before you agree to anything. No surprise charges, no hidden fees.

Can you guarantee you'll eliminate my loans?

No — and don't trust anyone who does. Every loan is different and every state's rules are different. What we can promise is an honest evaluation and our best work on your behalf.

Still Have Questions?

The easiest way to get specific answers is to request a free verification. We'll look at your actual situation and give you straight answers.
